Hello Families and Welcome to Torrey Hill Intermediate School!
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Torrey Hill. Though I am new to this role, I am not new to Lake Fenton Community Schools or education. Over the past 20 years I have had the privilege of teaching in various capacities that include Kindergarten-Fifth grades and Title-One Reading. Very recently, I have had the opportunity to teach 4th grade at Torrey Hill and connect with many of you and your students. It is of great importance to me to continue to build upon and create new connections with all of our students, staff, families, and the community.
I have a passion and drive for education and learning and over the past 20 years my pursuit of education has included a Bachelor’s degree in Early Elementary Education, a Master’s degree with a Reading Specialist endorsement, and an Educational Specialist degree with K-12 Administration certification. It is my mission to share my love of education with my students, staff, and support our students with every opportunity they need to succeed.
In addition to my role in education, I am first and foremost a wife and mother of three boys. Our family time is often shared during sporting events which include wrestling, football, and basketball. On the weekends and in the summer we love to host family gatherings, campfires, and pontoon rides.
At Torrey Hill you will find our building offers educational excellence. It is a student-centered environment that focuses on building relationships, engaging experiences, data driven supports and creating a positive safe climate. We are a building of grades 3rd-5th with approximately 450 students.
We offer a variety of academic encore programs that include: Music, PE, Art, and STEM. We also have a dedicated WINN lead teacher and three academic interventionists to target students' individual needs.
Lastly, I always have an open-door policy to meet, build connections, or discuss any questions you may have. We are happy to give tours of our facilities by appointment. If you need any additional information about our wonderful school, please contact me at 810-591-3617.
Sincerely,
Robin Powell
